Maria Montessori School, Imphal was founded on 16 November 1985, strictly adhering to the ‘Montessori System’, the universally revered system of education for children. The journey of Maria Montessori School from its humble beginning at Moirangkhom in 1985 as a Pre-School to the present Maria Montessori School, a school of repute is made possible by the experience and sheer dedication with a deep sense of commitment to the noble cause of education of its Founder Principal, Mrs. Laila Gatphoh. The School received its affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi in 1996.

The School is run by the Maria Montessori School Trust, a non-profit making organization which is committed to the cause of good education in the state of Manipur.

LOCATION

The School campus is spread over an area of 8 acres in a quiet and natural ambience and is located about 10 kms from the heart of Imphal City, close to the Imphal Dimapur Road, overlooking the meandering Imphal River.

AIM OF THE SCHOOL

To scale the height of academic excellence through an enriched curriculum.
To mould children into individuals who can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
To create a congenial environment and provide the children opportunities to develop their leadership skills.
The students of the School are allotted to the four houses, i.e. Darwin,Raman, Einstein and Newton for an overall competition.
Regular Inter-House competitions are held throughout the year in various co-curricularactivities which foster healthy rivalry and competitive spirit.
Each house is placed under the leadership of House Captains and Vice-Captains and their respective House Teachers who are directly responsible for the discipline and general well being of the members of the House.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

Students who do no attend school within one week of the beginning of an academic session, without any prior leave sanctioned by the Principal, shall be deemed that parents have withdrawn. Their names will be struck off from the class rolls and their admissions shall stand cancelled.
All students of the School must excel in discipline and have polite manners.
Students should come to School in full uniform, neat and clean.
Students must show respect and wish their teachers wherever they meet.
In order to improve the standard of Spoken English, the students are encouraged to speak in English in the School campus.
Students should not draw/ scribble on the desks, benches or walls.
Only prescribed text/ reference books and note books are to be brought to School.
Use of unfair means in all School Examinatons is a serious offence.
Every student, irrespective of his/her class, must take pride in keeping the School campus clean.
No ornament or other expensive articles are allowed to be worn in School. Students are also not allowed to bring large amount of money to the School. The School will not be responsible for the loss of any such item.

  • Boys (Baby class-XII) must come to school with a proper crew cut. At no time must the hair fall over the shirt collar.
  • Track suits are compulsory for both boys and girls during the school sports week.

ATTENDANCE :
Strict attendance is necessary for students. They are expected to have an average attendance of 75.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE

  • If and when it comes to the notice of the principal that there was a breach in any of the laid down Rules and Regulations of the School herein abovementioned and other by-laws of the School, the Principal may refer the  matter to the disciplinary committee of the School and the Health Wellness Teacher,who in turn will take up necessary steps in consultation with the parent(s) concerned.
  • Appropriate step(s) will be taken up by the Principal based on the report issued by the disciplinary committee and the Health Wellness Teacher(School Councellor)

ADMISSION :

Criteria for New Admission :

Baby Class to Class IX

  • Time and mode of Registration including details regarding admissions will be notified well in time through local dailies and other media available.
  • All New admissions are as per vacancy for the Session.


Admission to Class XI

  • Registration is compulsory for both old and new students.Time and mode of Registration including details regarding admissions will be notified well in time through local dailies and other media available.
  • Re-admission of old students of the School will be considered first.Remaining seats, if any, will be open to students of other schools.
  • Only regular students can apply.
  • Incomplete Registration Form shall be rejected. Mere registration will not confer the right to admission. Admission secured on the basis of false documents/certificates shall be cancelled.
  • Eligibility criteria and admission procedure will be decided by the Principalas per the requirements for the session. The same shall be notified at the appropriate time.


No new admission will be taken to classes X and XII.
Arts Stream : Opened for Classes XI and XII from the XI Batch of 2016-17.

EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION :
An academic year starts from 1st April and ends on 31st March of the following year.
Students who are absent from any written examination, Formative or Summative, for any reason whatsoever will not be re-examined.
The whole academic year is divided into two terms.

Baby Class and Group I:

In a year the students will write 2 examinations -

Mid - Term (September) and Final (February).

Group II and XII :

The students in these classes will write the following examinations in an academic year –

TERM I  
Two Monthly Tests, Mid- Term Examination

TERM II

Two Monthly Tests, Final Examination
(Pre- Final for class XII)

WITHDRAWAL
Should a parent, of his/ her own accord, decide against sending his/her child to the School, after he/she has deposited the admission and registration fee with the School, he/she will not be entitled to a refund except the security deposit and would be liable to pay three months’ tuition fees in lieu of notice.
Should a parent wish to withdraw a student at any time, he/she must informthePrincipal in writing giving three months’ notice of the intention to do so. If the specified notice is not given, the parent is bound by the rules of the School to pay tuition fees for the remaining academic months.
The Transfer Certificate and/ or any other document will be issued to a student only after the parents have paid all sums due to the School.
